A Key to Attracting Talent and Building Stronger Workplaces

In today’s post-pandemic environment of talent shortages and ambitious company growth objectives, fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace isn’t just a moral imperative, it’s a key competitive advantage in attracting and retaining talent.

Understanding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is focused on fostering a diverse workplace, promoting equity, and ensuring inclusive practices.

Diversity refers to the range of different and unique characteristics among people – this can include race, gender, age, education, religion, disability, sexual orientation and socioeconomic background among others.

Equity is about fairness and justice in treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all employees. It's not just about creating equal opportunities but about tailoring opportunities and resources to ensure everyone can participate fully and succeed. Inclusion, meanwhile, is about ensuring that these diverse voices are not just present but also heard, valued and given the opportunity to thrive.

Attracting and Retaining Talent Through DEI

At RMBL we respect and welcome diversity of thought, collaboration and inclusion. And this is reflected in our corporate value of ‘Value Diversity’.

Tapping into the wealth of skills, perspectives and experiences of our people leads to innovative problem-solving and decision-making, as well as making our workplace one where people can feel heard, valued and respected.

It is well known and supported by many studies that developing an inclusive and diverse work environment is a key influence on job satisfaction and employee well-being as well as lowering attrition. It is simply good business sense.

When employees see themselves represented and their voices heard, they are more likely to feel a sense of belonging and commitment to the organisation. Equity in opportunities and advancement ensures that all employees, regardless of their background, have a fair chance to develop and succeed. This sense of fairness and inclusivity is key in reducing turnover and fostering a loyal workforce.

At RMBL we proudly embrace a workforce that reflects a rich tapestry of diversity across gender, ethnicity, religion, and age. This diversity is not just present in our broader team but is exemplified at the highest levels of leadership. Our board, with a female majority, and our gender balanced management team are testaments to our commitment to diversity and equality. We don't just respect these differences – we celebrate them as a source of our strength and enable us to connect more meaningfully with our client base.

To accommodate diverse needs RMBL offers a range of initiatives and policies such as flexible working, purchased leave, paid parental leave, study assistance and well-being options. We also monitor the effectiveness of our DEI efforts through regular employee engagement surveys and feedback sessions, and act on ideas for improvement wherever possible.

Over the past few years RMBL has seen extensive growth in our business and workforce.

Continuing to support this business growth is critical for our success and hence attracting the right talent to our company and retaining an engaged and motivated workforce is an ongoing and critical part of the strategy.

A truly inclusive and diverse environment positively impacts employee attitudes and behaviours, leading to increased job satisfaction, organisational commitment, and overall well-being. This underscores the importance for organisations to not only focus on increasing diversity but also to actively nurture an equitable and inclusive culture where every employee feels valued and supported.
